Knauf Insulation Helps Implement Energy Efficient Technologies in Ukraine
A mobile exhibition named "Energy Saving Technologies / Passive House" organised by the German Technical Co-operation Association (GTZ) under the auspices of Germany's Federal Environmental Protection Ministry (BMU) with the support from the Passive House Project was opened in the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine on 16 September.
The grand opening was attended by Serhiy Ivanovych Dorotych, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine, Viacheslav Andronovych Nehoda, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine, as well as guests representing various parts of the construction sector. The exhibition organisers were represented by Ulrich Stoehr-Grabowski, project manager of the Energy Efficient Building Pilot Project, and Dipl.-Ing. Florian Lammaer, project manager of the Passive House project, who escorted the guests along information stands and exhibits, explained the passive building technology and answered the questions.
Buildings erected using the Passive House system (Germany) do not need to be heated. Thanks to the utilisation of the high-grade thermal insulation, the heat generated by the operating electrical devices and coming with the free solar energy remains within the house and does not heat up the ambient air. For this reason, a passive house wall mock-up display is among the central items of the mobile exhibition. Knauf Insulation Ukraine presented thermal insulation materials intended for the construction of structures used during the erection of an energy efficient building as mock-ups. The mock-up models are full sized and are in conformity with requirements of the Ukrainian building code. The thermal conductivity factor of fencing structures of a "passive house" must not exceed 0.15 W/m2•K; ideally, its value should be closer to 0.10 W/m2•K.
The mobile exhibition will stay in the ministry building for three weeks and then will be presented in other cities of Ukraine. Knauf Insulation Ukraine will keep providing information and advisory support to the exhibition along its entire route.
