Roundtable in EBA
Representatives of international finance institutions, government and state design organisations, as well as Association member companies came together to discuss prospects of the implementation of energy efficient technologies in Ukraine, and to try to determine, what hampers this process.
Representatives of manufacturers of the thermal insulation materials demonstrated the importance of the reduction in the energy consumption. For instance, Andriy Pavlyk, Director of Knauf Insulation Ukraine, emphasised the possibility of the obtainment of substantial benefits from speeding up the implementation of measures related to the thermal upgrades of the existing housing facilities.
Oleksandr Filonenko of the World Bank told about the willingness to provide loans for the development of energy conservation programmes. He mentioned that experts were apprehensive about the low creditworthiness of the Ukrainian cities and the lack of technical facilities for the full-fledged implementation of such programmes. In his comment on the last statement, Hennadiy Fareniuk of the Building Structures Research Institute (NDIBK) explained that the state encourages the energy conservation sector by developing new standards and adopting technical regulations.
As a result of the meeting, the participants identified the lines of the development of specific proposals to be reviewed in the course of new events organised by the Mineral Wool Insulation Manufacturers Committee of the European Business Association.
