What to insulate?

The following must be thermally insulated:

  • Roofs
  • External walls, including walls between inhabited (heated) and non-inhabited (non-heated) rooms
  • Floor decks with cold rooms (garrets, non-heated attics)
  • Floors above the space blown with the wind (in case of the bearing-post or strip foundations)
  • Floors above non-heated garages and cellars
  • Basement walls and ceiling

Special attention should be paid to links between external walls and foundations, external walls and attic floor decks, corners of  external walls and opening frames, as well as those locations in building structures, where "cold joists" can develop.
